At approximately 8:46 p.m., MPD was searching for a suspect from an incident that happened earlier in Merced. As one officer attempted to search for the suspect, the officer noted he saw one man run, after the suspect saw the officer walking toward him. A short foot pursuit then began. Shortly after, the officer saw the man go inside a residence on 23rd Street.
Several officers assisted soon after. The officers were able to surround the house and detained one suspect around 9:22 pm.
According to officers, the suspect is a gang member and is currently on probation.
