On October 9, 2018 at 7:09 p.m., Los Banos Police were dispatched to the 600 block of H Street for a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision. An off-duty police officer, and two volunteer firefighters were in the area and began to render aid to the severely injured pedestrian.

Officers met with the driver of a white 2010 Ford Fusion at the scene. The driver was cooperative and understandably shaken by the event. The driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The pedestrian did not have any identification in his posession. The Merced County Coroner’s office is working to identify the man.
