A foot pursuit began around 4:27 p.m., involving an MPD officer and one juvenile suspect near the 200 block of 18th street.
According to an officer, the suspect was fiddling with his waistband as he was running from the officer. The officer soon lost visual after the suspect jumped over a fence in an alleyway.
Soon after Merced PD set up for a perimeter near 200 block of 18th Street.
A description then went out for a hispanic male juvenile, dressed in all black.
At around 4:42 p.m., MPD started searching homes on 18th, 19th, and MLK.
At 4:47 p.m., MPD decided to search the reported areas using a drone.
At around 4:59 p.m.,a person of interest was detained on 19th and I streets.
*One other person was detained before the foot pursuit began. He was described as black male juvenile currently on probation.
