Last night the City of Atwater experienced their second homicide in the month of July.
On July 27, 2018, an Atwater Police Officer was in the area of 5th/Drakeley when he heard gunshots ring out. Almost immediately, APD communications center began receiving calls of a shooting in the 1800 block of Drakeley Avenue.
Atwater officers located a male juvenile, gunshot victim, whose name will be released by the Merced County Sheriff/Coroner, was transported via Medi-flight helicopter.
Tragically, the teen victim later died in the trauma center.
The Atwater Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding this young man’s murderer.
