The man suspected of shooting a Merced County Sheriff’s deputy and carjacking a vehicle is now captured after a pursuit that lasted more than 45 minutes, according to Merced County Sheriff Vernon Warnke..
The pursuit ended after a successful spike strip on I-5 in Fresno County.
51-year-old Guadalupe Lopez-Herrera also attempted to allegedly shoot a CHP officer during today’s incident.
No injuries were reported.
