A man is dead after a shooting in Merced on W.12 and G Street, police say.
According to police, officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 12th and G Street at 7:11 p.m. in the City of Merced.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they found a man with a gunshot wound. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead, according to the police.
After officers responded to the shooting on W.12 Street, officers received a call from Mercy Medical Center informing them that a second gunshot wound victim had arrived at the hospital. Detectives went to the hospital and spoke to Jeffrey Salery, who had been shot in the leg. After investigating, they discovered that the two incidents were connected.
After speaking with witnesses, Salery was arrested and booked into Merced County Jail for homicide and firearms violations.
A second suspect, Anthony Allen, was also arrested and booked for firearms, narcotics and parole violations.
