An Atwater resident is now in custody after dragging an Atwater PD officer with a vehicle, according to the Atwater Police Department.

The Atwater Police Department credits a tip from a social media user that led to the arrest of a suspect in the investigation where an Atwater Police Officer was dragged by a vehicle during the investigation of a suspicious vehicle earlier today, police say.

This tip led Merced and Atwater Police to the 1900 block of Yosemite Parkway where the vehicle alleged to be involved, a silver Toyota Camry with a bicycle rack was found in the parking lot in front of a grocery store at that location. After an investigation was completed, Brandon Lussier, age 40, was taken into custody without incident, police say.

Lussier was booked into Merced County Jail on multiple charges.
