A man was struck by a 1970 Case Tractor on Highway 59 and Bellevue Rd. in Merced.
Incident happened at 6:40 a.m.
A 25-year-old male was walking northbound on the right shoulder of SR 59 south of Bellevue Rd. A 59 year old male from Merced was driving a 1970 Case Tractor southbound on SR59 north of Bellevue Rd at approximately 18-20 mph. For unknown reason, the pedestrian walked infront of the tractor, causing the driver to swerve to the right in attempt to avoid hitting him, but was unable to avoid the collision, according to CHP.
No drugs/alcohol appear to be a factor when it comes to the driver as he cooperates with the investigation.
It is unknown if the pedestrian was under the influence at the time of the collision. This incident is still under investigation.
