On Sunday October 14, 2018 at approximately 11:08 A.M. officers with the Merced Police Department were responding to a radio transmission that another officer needed assistance. As one officer was traveling south on “R” Street, crossing W. Olive Ave, they were involved in a traffic collision.
The officer had the emergency lights and siren activated on the marked Merced Police vehicle as he/she was proceeding through the intersection of W. Olive and “R” Street. A vehicle traveling east on W. Olive Ave was entering the intersection. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. At this time there are no injuries reported.
As standard procedure the Merced Police Department contacted the California Highway Patrol to conduct the traffic collision investigation.
