On 9/14/2018 officers were called to G St. and Olive Avenue for a report of a pedestrian vs. vehicle traffic accident. When officers arrived they found 56 year-old resident, Joseph Machado lying on the pavement suffering from a head injury. An off-duty fire fighter on scene assisted medically while EMS workers responded. The driver, Joe Silva was pulling out of the Save Mart parking lot in a blue Mitsubishi Mirage when Machado, who was pushing a shopping cart, walked out into traffic. Silva could not see the pedestrian and struck him. Machado was flown to a Modesto hospital where he is in stable condition. There are no indications that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
