Major improvements are underway for Highway 99 in the City of Atwater.
CalTrans is expected to start improvements on ALL the on-off ramps in Atwater starting January 2020, engineering has already begun.
“This is going to be a safety improvement for the City of Atwater,” said Mayor Paul Creighton.
“CalTrans moved Atwater on top of their list to improve all the on-off ramps in the City of Atwater. We’ve secured over $78 million dollars for improvements on Highway 99,” said Mayor Paul Creighton.
CalTrans is expected to lower part of the roadway under the Applegate overpass about two feet.
A storm basin will also be put behind Panda Express for highway flooding purposes near the on-ramp to Highway 99.
When construction work begins for lowering part of Highway 99 under the Applegate overpass, traffic will be diverted into the City of Atwater.
Highway 99 improvements comes after numerous complaints of traffic accidents in the Atwater area.
