Man killed after Amtrak train crashes into vehicle in Merced County

On September 21, 2023, the California Highway Patrol and Merced County Sheriff Deputies responded to a fatal collision on Santa Fe near Cressey for a vehicle vs. Amtrack train collision at noon.

According to Merced County Sheriff Deputy Alexandra Britton, 40-year-old Rudy Coronado, Atwater, is identified as the deceased.

Amtrak is currently investigating the cause of the incident.
