A Merced man was arrested for homicide, police say.
According to Merced Police, officers responded to a shooting on the 1800 block of Grogan Avenue on April 21, 2023.
Officers responded and located 20-year-old gun shot victim, Kaylie Allen. First responders performed life saving measures, but Allen was pronounced deceased on scene.
On May 18, 2023, Jose Kevin Valencia-Zavala, was arrested for the homicide of Allen.
According to police, Zavala, a known gang member, attempted to go inside an establishment, but was denied entry. He was upset and started to fight patrons. He left but returned and stated shooting people outside of the establishment.
